Even the event details page can be fully customized to fit with your website template.

Event Management The Easy Way

The DPCalendar event management is as easy as working with Joomla articles. The same interface and actions are available so there’s no need to worry about learning a whole new system. This means that your Joomla calendar can be set up with nested calendars, you can configure users with ACL and batch editing and advanced filtering is available in the backend.

Event editing tasks on your fully integrated Joomla calendar such as creating, editing and deleting of events is possible on the frontend to get a really simple and easy user experience. For a quick move of date or time, you can simply use the built in drag 'n’ drop feature. If you want to increase the time slot of an event, a simple resize function allows quick expansion of the time slot.

And of course we support complex recurring patterns like the first Monday of the month.

Multi-Language

DPCalendar uses the Joomla native language features to support your multilingual website. Every calendar or event within a calendar can be assigned its own language.

All texts in DPCalendar are in a separate Joomla language file, which can easily be translated into your native language. To have permanent language translations in DPCalendar, you can publish your translation on Transifex. which we will ship with all future releases of this Joomla calendar. You can directly update the newest translations from Transifex within DPCalendar with the built in language update feature.

We know how important it is to let users know where the event happens. DPCalendar comes with the ability to attach multiple locations to one event. The locations can be administered as usual through a simple interface. This means you can reuse existing locations on multiple events. Automatic detection of latitude and longitude is provided for your convenience

The map module and menu item let people to search for events based on locations. Just type in the location and the radius where the events should happen.

Fully Integrated

We live in a connected world. This means that people store events in many different calendar applications. With DPCalendar, you can fully integrate external calendars like Ical urls or Google calendar (a nice introduction video can be found here ). These will be automatically displayed in the frontend calendar. At the moment DPCalendar supports the following external calendar sources:

  • Google calendar
  • CalDAV (iCloud, ownCloud, Baiikal, many more which do support the CalDAV protocol)
  • MS Exchange
  • Facebook events (private and pages)
  • iCal files (locally and remote)
  • CSV files (locally and remote)
  • Some Joomla extensions like JEvents or JCalPro

If you have a legacy event calendar like Excel or JEvents you can easily import the events from them through the DPCalendar import feature. We plan to expand our import feature to include other sources in later releases. If you would like to see an external calendar app integrated in DPCalendar, just tell us and we will do our best to integrate it into DPCalendar.

Your user's personal DPCalendar can be added to their CalDAV app like iCal, Thunderbird or any smartphone/tablet. Now your user can edit and update the events using their favorite app or by using the web interface.

Social Networking

DPCalendar integrates social network accounts like Facebook, Twitter and Google+. You can fully configure and style the buttons on the calendar and event pages. You can disable integration with any of the networks that you don’t want.

Users can comment on events with the JComments and Facebook comments. As future DPCalendar versions are released, we intend to add integration features for any new social networking sites.

Event modifications can be published trough the Facebook or Twitter plugin automatically to the timeline.

DPCalendar uses the native Joomla permission and access features to restrict content and actions for your visitors and site members. You can set global and per calendar permissions to define which users can administer (create, edit, delete, manage) the component, calendars or events. Access control is also implemented on a per calendar or per event basis.

Additionally, you can set an ‘access content’ field on each event within your Joomla calendar to define which users can see the content of any event. So if a visitor has not been given certain "access content" rights, he or she will only be able to view the date of the event and a ‘busy’ label, but will not be able to see the details of the even such as title or description.
