Two games on today, France vs Nigeria at 5pm, and Germany vs Algeria at 9pm. I can’t see past a France and Germany qualification. Both should win in normal time, although the France game could go to extra time and pens if Nigeria defend well.

Drama! The end of that Holland v Mexico game was quite something. 0-1 at 88′ and then 2-1 at full time, exciting stuff. I only hope the Costa Rica v Greece is as exciting.

As a recap from last night, I was very glad to see Columbia go through, with another emphatic performance and yet more goals for that man James Rodriguez, who is in blinding form! Sadly for my betting account, Brazil didn’t win in normal time, although they did qualify overall. I’m happy that Brazil qualified as there is always that extra bit of excitement and atmosphere around the World Cup whilst the host nation are still involved.

For this evening’s game, I think Costa Rica should beat Greece, although I could see both teams scoring. However, I do hope Greece don’t come out to defend as this could result in the game going to extra time. My tips for tonights game are:

So the group stages of the World Cup are over. With a few surprise results, plenty of goals, and the inevitable failure of the England squad, its cannot be argued that this World Cup has been fantastic. Tonight’s two games are Brazil vs Chile at 5pm and Columbia vs Uruguay at 9pm.

Brazil vs Chile 5pm

I want to start by saying how I have really enjoyed the football that Chile have been playing this tournament. They have played quality attacking football, and have surprised many, especially in the 2-0 victory over Spain. I would like to highlight the performances of Aranguiz and Vargas so far and obviously Alexis Sanchez who has been outstanding. I feel that Chile will be tough opposition for Brazil tonight. Jorge Sampaoli’s tactics have been exciting and spot on so far, especially against the Netherlands and it will be interesting to see any tactical changes for tonight’s game.

Having said all of that, I still believe that Brazil will come out on top and should qualify for the next round. I believe that Brazil have the home advantage as well as the passion that comes with hosting a World Cup. There is also the added bonus of having Neymar, playing like a man possessed at the moment. I think Brazil have the quality and the depth in their squad to beat Chile, and with performances from the likes of Oscar, Fernandinho, as well as Neymar himself, Brazil should be able to overcome Chile.

Handicap Brazil (-1) @ 5/4.

Brazil to win and BTTS @ 2/1.

Columbia vs Uruguay 9pm

I love Columbia’s style of play. They play fast flowing, attacking football and are very exciting to watch. Consistent performances from Juan Cuadrado, James Rodriguez and Jackson Martinez amongst others has led to great success so far in 2-0, 3-0 and 4-1 wins. As a result of this form, plus their impressive performances, I can really see / hope that Columbia will beat Uruguay tonight.

Uruguay have played well so far, but without Luis Suarez, I cannot see them as as much of an attacking threat. Cavani has been good, but Suarez has been in World Class form for the entire season, and without him, I feel Uruguay will succumb to the Columbian onslaught this evening.

A good bet would be :

James Rodriguez to score at any time @ 2/1

Columbia to win and Over 2.5 goals @ 5/2

Also this evening I have gone for a Neymar and Jackson Martinez FGS double which comes in at a nice 23/1.
